"I am innocent! I didn't do anything!" - "I know, I know."

While holding up a gun, Kinnaman was saying that to D'Onofrio and the other cops. In return D'Onofrio was calming him down.
The uniformed cops looked quite confused. "Gun but white, gun but white. What should we do? OMG they didn't train us for this!"

I wonder how that scene would have played out, if it was the black kid from the box club holding up the gun. ;D

The cops would have "feared for their life" and they would have all emptied their Colts on him, to make sure the black demon was really dead. Then, to make sure that the DA was not the 1 in 100 American DAs who dares go after holy cops, they would have fired the gun of the kid towards their direction a couple of times in order to feign self-defence.

By the end of the month they would have not only be totally cleared but they would each secure a medal, "to honour them for protecting their colleagues". The same would have happened if the kid was holding a cell phone("It looked like a gun!") or possibly even if the kid was "shooting" them with his index finger.

In real life the black kid would have been shooting at the cops so their would not be any need to fake self defense.

I would say my memory is not what it used to be. But I don't remember what my memory used to be.
