Driftwood?
The premise sounds awfully similar (minus the supernatural element-- unless that just was not mentioned?)..

The ending in this movie really satisfies.
I watched boot camp based on a recommendation, probably yours. I thought cold water was 1000 times better, but Boot Camp is pretty okay.
