You hit the nail on the head. This film is so unbelievable that its painful to watch. I'm struggling to think of one character who is even mildly realistic...not coming up with one.

I suffered through this up to the point where the guy gets tortured by the pin shoved under his fingernail.

Seriously?

Would anyone believe a legitimate, legal youth "rehabilitation center" would use such a method for interrogation purposes?

On a positive note, the two young male actors did a fantastic job of acting. It's just too bad that the characters, story and dialog are so incredibly poor.

I'd expect to see more from those two guys, and a lot, lot less from whoever wrote this garbage.

It's a pretty common torture method as it's relatively harmless but incredibly painful. And considering the Colonel is from the Marine Core which means he's probably been overseas....I think this took place in the 80's, so it wouldn't be a stretch that he'd been to Vietnam or Korea and picked up on a few things.

The entire point of the movie is that this was a rehabilitation center gone bad, run by a corrupt lunatic who basically brainwashed the kids.

To think stuff like this hasn't happened is naive. Around the world kids have been abused in summer camps, in juvenile detention centers, in boarding schools, it may not be common any longer, but it has happened and will continue to do so.

It was unbelievable. The movie seemed a little bit far fetched in too many ways.
All the employees were corrupt losers and all the law enforcement and social workers were incompetent. Every last one of them. Really??!!

But there are a lot of deaths in these places. That part is not so far fetched.

nice to see making judgment over a 100 min long movie on its first 15 min.

its a movie, if you want pure realism, stick with documentaries

At freedom mountain academy in mountain city tennessee, the director made all the guys take all their clothes off to take a shower except me. He had me go first then yelled at me to get out because I was gay.

He came into the girls area when they were naked too. He also knocked a girl back in her chair and she landed on the ground for eating candy. His name was Kevin Cullinane and he is probably dead by now. These things were reported, by me, but I don't think much of anything happened. It is still a school.
