What a great movie, one of my favorites this year.

I really liked this movie. I'm a huge fan of David Gordon Green's first 4 movies, I really love them. I think Pineapple Express is one of the best comedies of recent years. His last two movies were kinda meh but man, this was really something.

Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch were terrific. Rudd especially was truly outstanding. His performance was very subtle, both in comedy and dramatic scenes. The soundtrack by David Wingo (huge fan of him)and Explosions in the Sky really suited the beautiful cinematography by Tim Orr.

One thing Gordon Green is really good at is creating these very real characters, and getting good performances out of actors. I bought that the characters Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch are playing were real. Their chemistry and the relationship of the characters was just incredible. From the first shot of the movie to the last, Gordon Green sucks you in to this world, the movie oozes with atmosphere.

Definitely one of the best movies I've seen this year, I was really surprised to see that it has 6.4 rating here.

I thought Hirsch was good, but Rudd was Rudd.

Everything about this film is beautiful and nuanced. It's so much more than a comedy.

I wrote up a longer review if anyone wants a snoop - http://www.bensbasement.co.uk/2013/12/reel-quick-review-prince-avalanc he.html

Yeah. I thought the two leads were magnificent - especially Rudd - we all know Hirsch can act, (Into the Wild is amazing), and the story was subtle and mezmerizing. I loved it.

I gave it an 8. A true little gem, hard to find these days. People seem to have really become detached from what is beauty (as to the rating and the comments on this board).

I, too, was surprised at the 6.4 rating, since I give it about a 3.

I have to be honest, I didn't care for it much the first time. But after a second watch I see the appeal! Beautiful film, very underrated.

Christmas DVD number two... Could have done with a bit more story. But, it's gently amusing and oddly charming and I rather enjoyed it.
