Baaaaad...

Avoid this movie at all costs. Dull, unbelievable, pointless film.

I don't want my 93 minutes to be a complete waste, so I made this cautionary thread.

Agree. 1/10 IMDBs ratings have become completely unreliable.

Ohhhh man, what a BUMmer. How COULD this director make such a piece of boring, recycled, been-there-before drivel? The ONly things redeemable in the film were the older woman (that was cinema verite, btw) and the truckdriver.

I was so miffed from watching it that I jumped on the opportunity to catch, for the 4th time, the end of Seven Psychopaths, where I could love the dialogue and marvel at the humor and the characters of a really worthwhile film...

You lasted 93 minutes?

Opinions are made to be changed - or how is truth to be got at?

reply

I have this really bad habit where if I watch a movie and get half way through, I need to finish it. Almost OCD.

reply

I'm like that too. And did the same thing with this film. I watched it with three friends and we were all like "WTF?!" We kept heckling the movie to do something interesting, like be a sequel to "Brokeback Mountain" or something!

I shut it off at the 35 minute mark. I keep waiting for something to happen. Thought something was about to when he saw that old lady going through her burned down house. That was a good scene. Then it went back to boring and I decided this movie was not for me so I moved on.

I'm not saying anyone who likes this is stupid. I do not have ADHD. I don't need shiny bells and whistles to enjoy a film. But I do need a plot. I just could not get into this film.

reply

I enjoyed it. Anything with Paul Rudd is okay in my book. Also, their relationship did develop over the course of the movie. If the movie had shown them going into town together at the end, that would've ruined the pared-down two-person vibe for me.

reply

I fell asleep 4 times maybe 5 as I said before a wasted opportunity. I would of liked to see Lance go to town and see them both go to the Paegant and get drunk more.

reply

I wouldn't call it bad, but yeah, it could have been much better. I usually love slow movies, even when nothing happens, but Alvin and Lance just weren't interesting enough to sustain not having much of a plot. At one point I legitimately thought this might be a mumblecore movie. Personally I don't mind mumblecore, but I can't believe how many people hate mumblecore and like this movie. I actually thought Drinking Buddies and Your Sister's Sister were better, and had more plot.

You heart me? What is that? Is that like I love you for pussies?

reply

I watched it in one sitting, I didn't fall asleep, but yeah, it was all he said it was: "dull, unbelievable, pointless." Especially pointless. I've had more exciting days when I worked as a paperboy.
