David Geffen

Was he a cheap SOB or was Don Henley a true 'malcontent'?

reply

David Geffen is a narcissist ahole.

Didn't like the way he treated Laura Nyro (Stoney End) in their business dealings either.

"It's the system, Lara. People will be different after the Revolution."

reply

Henley was a malcontent, petty, greedy, overly impressed with himself, overrated musician.

In any event, Geffen had one of the funniest moments in the documentary. Somebody is talking about the cover design for their first album, how it was supposed to unfold into a poster. He says that Geffen ordered them all glued shut, ruining the poster effect and resulting in the interior photo being upside down.

Cut to Geffen; he just shrugs. No words.

Made me laugh. :)

That was funny, but I betcha it wasn't funny when it happened.

I laughed at that as well. Then I went and found my old album and lo and behold the interior photo is upside down. I don't know if that ever registered when I originally bought it many years ago, it must have because I used to read and scrutinize album covers, liner notes and record sleeves but I didn't remember that fact.

Seems like an exaggeration. Henley just seems a little grumpy to me. But even if true, it doesn't mean David Geffen isn't a a-hole.

I laughed at that as well.

Me too.

The movie uses that silent shrug again when they were discussing Joe Walsh throwing a television off the balcony of a hotel into a pool. Joe is pretty funny all throughout.

And by the end, I actually think he becomes the best lead singer in the group.
