Please be decent...

First, I am glad that the director has finally got to make his first feature film.

But please let this be decent. Most viking films are terrible. The only good one I've ever seen was Valhalla Rising. I hope this film is atleast ok.

Don't forget Erik the Viking!

Let's not forget 'The Vikings' with two nice Jewish boys starring as long separated Viking brothers and that lovable Italian Ernie Borgnine as a Viking king.

Seriously, this is a first time outing by a guy whose rep is as a series TV director. Any expectations that it will be any good and/or sell any tickets, or is it destined to be the sort of British action film that gets ignored on this side of the pond (ala Solomon Kane)?

AgentSniff, if you're watching...

I got a hold of "Valhalla Rising" and it is interesting. However, calling it a Viking film is about as misleading as calling "El Topo" a Western. But it also goes to my point. "VR" is practically invisible here in the US, while when Refn did "Drive" he became notable here. It seems that "action" films flow from the US to the rest of the world, the flow the other way isn't as simple.

Although I thought of valhalla rising when I saw this flick, which is not as good but still watchable. By far no waste of time. I give it a 6,5.

you wish it was decent... it's not..

If you're expendable... Please do not tell us! We really don't care!...

reply

I agree it was not that great, will definitely not be watched again.

reply

I was hoping for it to be at least half as good as the Viking series but it is more like 1/100 as good. Complete waste of time.

It felt as if there was enough good material in this film to make a decent episode of a tv series, but lots of padding was added to get it to movie length.
