The directing was just all wrong.
shareThere just weren't really any jokes. The set-up is funny - a team-building exercise in the jungle with a whole cast of characters - but it goes nowhere. It's like they wrote the plot, and what turns the story would take, and said they'd add jokes later. But they never actually got to it.
It seems like they just kind of turned in the 1st draft and filmed it...
