So what was the Counselor's role in the crime?

Fassbender was asked at least twice to confirm he was "in". But what did he do? What was his role? It seemed to me that these characters could have been involved in this deal easily without him. Can someone please explain why he was needed in this deal?

reply

He was just an investor in the deal. He didn't have to do anything else.

If all he did was 'invest' in it, why'd the cartel want him dead? Sounds like he got swindled just like them, so what exactly did he do that they wanted him dead for, and not the people who stole the drugs?

reply

Did you watch the movie? He got blamed for it because of one bad coincidence, because he did his client a favour and bailed out her son, who just happened to be the delivery guy for the drug deal. If he remained in prison, he wouldn't have been able to deliver the device in time, but Malkina (the one behind the hijacking) didn't know that and she just went ahead with the hijacking anyway. It was good luck for her but bad luck for the counselor. Of course they would link the counselor to the hijacking based on that coincidence cos it was too hard for them to believe the new guy wasn't in on the whole thing.

Yeah well to be honest it's shown in such a messed up way that I wouldn't blame someone for getting confused to be honest... I really tried to enjoy the movie, but I really had a hard time to understand the porpose of its existance...

It's really not. It's actually quite easy to follow. I mean, you just have to pay attention like you would with any film you're investing two hours of your time to sit down and watch. 

i did watch a really bad copy, but sorry, that wasn't that obvious to me either, and i just did not grasp the character played by cameron diaz's motives but thanks for clarifying it.

it's a dirty world Reich, say what you want

Her motives were the same as everyone else's -- greed.

The cartel doesn't play games just him being involved was enough to have him killed but yeah he bails out the cartel boss's wife's son and he gets killed so they just kill everyone involved. And I'm pretty sure Cameron Diaz knew everyone involved and knew they'd die but went ahead with the plan anyway. That scene with her fuchk!ng the windshield of the car while Javier bardem has the stupidest look on his face you can fathom was in no way sexy . Cameron Diaz should quit after that..did I even see the residue on the windshield after too? Totally classless . Couldn't come up with something better for crazy Cameron Diaz character to do for a sex scene then 'ay why don't we just have her screw the windshield ?

No, I can't imagine that it was in no way sexy. The narrative suggested it as not sexy, with Javier Bardem recounting it as a traumatic event for him and that is the only reason to imagine it as not being sexy.

If a porno did it, they could pull that off just fine.
