So who got the drugs and the money in the end?

Love this movie. Severely underrated, but I was a bit confused about some of the plot points. So Malkina hired some guys to steal the drugs and the the fake cops who got the drugs back from Malkina's guys were apparently cartel guys, meaning the real owners of the drugs? So Malkina didn't get the drugs in the end. Am I right? But in the last scene Malkina talks about taking 20 million to China as diamonds, which suggests that she did get the drugs or the money (the drugs were worth 20 million), or what? Also she did apparently steal money from Brad Pitt's bank account. So did Brad Pitt have the 20 million or what? The Counselor supposedly gave him some money for the drug deal as he promised, but I don't think he gave 20 million to him. If Brad Pitt had the 20 million in his bank account, then the whole "stealing the drug truck"-operation was unnecessary if she would've just stolen the money from Pitt. Maybe I misunderstood something?

You're right about all of that. I just assumed that she didn't really want to have to kill Westray, but since the first plan failed she didn't want her efforts to be for nothing, so she killed him to get his money and it would be a good opportunity to make it look like the cartel did it. She was buying diamonds with his money and then taking them to Hong Kong to sell

The drugs were recovered by the cartel due to the tracking device in the starting cap (?).

Seeing that her initial plan failed, she then used the opportunity to rob Westray when had his guard down in London, then murder him, framing the cartel by using a bolito.

Westray was the middle man for the drug operation who held all the "investors" money.

She didn't rob Westray earlier because he was protected by the other members of his syndicate and probably the cartel.
