Will this be a series? *Spoilers*!!

I am usually quite forgiving with low budget sci-fi but this movie deserves a 5/10. 6/10 at best. If this is supposed to be a pilot for a series then fine, it was ok and the series might actually have some potential, but as a stand alone movie it was pretty weak.

1. Acting and script is not exactly top-notch and pretty predictable. The characters are cliched to a point of annoyance.

2. Just deviating from plan and not killing the target and thereby risking the one chance to save 9M People and the whole future is borderline crazy. As is sending 3 amateurs to do the job in the first place instead of a trained hit squad that would stick to the mission.

3. Upon return everyone in the bunker knows exactly what is going on as if nothing has changed but the rest of the world doesn't. This was so blatantly odd that it really bothered me (and I am generally not someone searching for, and bothered by "plot holes".

4. The "genius" playstation geek that can simulate the whole world in 3 seconds by the click of a mouse is so far fetched that it's comical.

5. The time portal thingy jumping to the perfect time and place in history just in the same second that it is needed is such convenient writing that it is annoying. As is getting back into it virtually in the last second before it closes.

But most of all...

6. After spending minutes explaining, at the beginning, that the wormhole or whatever it is, jumps around at random without anyone knowing to when and where, the evil dude at the end knew exactly to put on his cozy snowcoat because he just knew that it would take him into some snowy woods. And exactly at the right time for him to initiate his evil master plan. Not maybe, say, into the ice age before civilisation exists, where he would be screwed.

All I can say is "facepalm".

But as far as the special effects, it was passable so if this becomes a series, it might be a worthwhile half and hour Friday night watch. It's almost like a Stargate reboot.

It was explained that the facility was shielded from changes to the timeline. I have no clue how that could be accomplished, but it is common trope of time travel stories.

The fact that he knew to put on a winter coat indicates that he knew in advance where he was going. The most likely explanation is that he is originally from an alternate timeline that he is trying to restore. Or maybe he's from the future. In either case, he could have a better understanding of the technology than the people in the current timeline. This was hinted at when the Physicist was being congratulated for being the first person to time travel, and someone added "that we know of."

Ok, although No 6 was the worst thing for me, I will scrap it. Maybe, like you said, the guy knew something the others didn't and maybe this would be explained in the series. That could possibly be what the series would be about. Like the "other bald people" in the series "Fringe" that knew everything that was going to happen because they came from the future. He could maybe even be the one that manipulated the wormhole to make certain things happen. Might actually make the series more interesting than annoying like I originally felt. :-)

Yeah, that ruined it for me. After that plot device was introduced I was completely unable to enjoy anything else about the movie - and I am a sucker for time-travel stories!

Not sure what you mean by that. It was NOT the perfect time and place, it was several decades before the perfect time and a few hours drive from the perfect place.

I agree. It was never accepted as I guess SyFy understood every episode would require a catastrophic event and would be a copy of the 1st one due to limited time travel the particle accelerator allows (random location and period).

So far I like most the Timecop. Present is affected by actions in the past including the facility and we get revealed there is a prototype machine that was misused to manipulate time. Timecop also has its issues but they seem to be minor compared to this movie.
