Who else watched this?

I've gotta say....I just loved this little movie! It totally held my attention and was exciting all the way through! I knew going in it was just a one-time thing so enjoyed it as such. Anybody else feel the same???

reply

I did and I want more. I knew that cigar smoking guy was going to do something and now we'll never get to see how, what, where or why. I'm bummed...

reply

Actually, it was planned to be picked up. The problem is - the project really exists, and the guy with the cigar didn't want the rest of the world to know about it. Since he couldn't control where/when he went, he didn't have a chance to stop the pilot. However, he was able to get the rest of the series cancelled.

reply

Very funny, but Stargate beat you to it.

Getting back to the story, he definitely knew more than he was letting on to. He knew about when the beam would jump to another time period. He also had a parka in his suitcase because he knew ahead of time he was going into a cold climate. And while it's natural to think of a military man having a gun, it probably would not been allowed in that environment -- only security would carry guns.

My guess -- perhaps he was a deranged person or even agent from the future. He obviously understood the physics of the time travel effect better than anybody else in the lab.

reply

Yeah I knew he was up to something a little before they showed him checking the time.

I want to see it, but hesitate to watch a pilot that hasn't been picked up by a network. I don't want the frustration of possibly really liking it, and/or having questions and knowing they'll never be resolved. :-(

I really liked it too!

I really enjoyed it and am peeved that it wasn't picked up. What a great little show it would have been. Even if it did have aspects of other shows, it had some good ideas.

reply

I guess I am the only one who hates this then.

1. Overstereotyped characters, very obnoxious.
2. The panopticon. Basically the guy created a simulation of the entire earth on his own. If you have this thing you don't even need to go back in time, you can simulate everything after all. Want to stop the impending war and restart American economy? Run your actions through the simulator until you find one that's best for you! Hell, run the sim forward several years ahead and see the future (ala paycheck)!
3. The portal "suddenly" destabilized. Too obvious a method to create drama.
4. Just how the bloody hell did the guys manning the portal not be affected by the change? "Oh bring up the monitor to check will you?" Seriously? We are of course forgetting about how the portal is still there if the nuclear attack never occurred in the first place.

reply

I'm with you. I'm glad it hasn't been picked up.

Kirk out.

reply

They have an interesting story idea but it was killed by poor writing. The overstereotyped characters/dialogues were a killer.

big jacket must be going stop COLD WAR ...bang

reply

correct criticism ... this show was silly, but it was an interesting thing to think about and be exposed to

reply

i watched it, and thought it was gonna be a new series, because my TiVo said it was season 1 episode 1. It was a great "movie". By it not being picked up, further proves the people at syfy hate scifi, and want a tv network that shows the same as everyone else along fake reality shows that are less than garbage. But movies/ tv shows like Rewind are really good, that is the kind of stuff they need to have

reply

Ugh, SyFy is so stupid. This show was better than most all the other junk they show on the network and its ridiculous they didn't pick this up. Yes, there are some similarities to other shows but still like I said this was much better than a lot of junk they're running.

Watched it and enjoyed it. My first reaction when I saw the description and saw the brief promos being shown while sci-fi showed G.I. Joe was that this would be another "Seven Days" type show. I was wondering how they would do their travel. I found it was sort of a combination of Stargate, Quantum Leap, Time Tunnel and a few other time-travel shows/movies. Those kinds of things can't be avoided much time travel stories have certain baggage that comes along with them.
