Anyone else find it hard to watch

I've been watching but it's terrible. The Carrie diaries isn't this bad

Excellent show! Very much looking forward to the last 4 episodes!

At the same time, I fully understand why it's a bit too complex for the fans of Real Housewives of New Jersey or Survivor #62.

There are times when you're not sure if you're watching the filmed show or actual events. A couple of times I've thought we were really seeing Billy and his followers and it turned out to be an episode of the show within a show.

I noticed that early on .... and for me, that is a big plus! It makes the show even more fascinating and unpredictable.

FYI, for the most part, whatever Billy and Kelly are wearing, instantly reveals that it is the "show within the show."

Rock on!

I don't really like the show within a show concept which makes it even more confusing. Hope Jeff and Skye find his brother.

Early on the production values between the two realities was very different. The show within a show had that glossy Hollywoodized look while the show itself was more gritty. With each episode though it felt like they were becoming closer to the same effect. I assume this was on purpose.

The pilot in particular was hard to watch, but it got better. The remaining problem is that jessica lucas has no soul.

It is interesting with all the levels a tv show about a cult about a tv show about a cult about the fact that all broadcast media is a cult. I wonder if stephen rae is actually sky's father who pulled a jim carrey in the number 23.

Road-Rules, what did you mean exactly by "hard to watch"?
I find the OTT sadistic horror scenes very difficult to watch, and would have bailed on it if it wasn't almost over anyway.
But I like the premise of the show about a cult of fans about a show. It's just too violent for my taste. I hope we see another show in the future that takes a more scifi or mystery approach without all the gratuitous violence. I realize it has all been "fake" violence in the show within the show, but it's still gratuitous violence in the show that I am watching.

@wishiwasavulcan
I thought after watching Zero Hour and the Following (2 shows on a spectrum that only makes sense in my mind and two shows that shouldn't be picked up for a second season unlike Cult (which should be) and were on about the same time) that the violence in this was somewhat in the middle. I liken The Following to Criminal Minds (R) and Zero Hour (perhaps Once Upon a Time is a good indicator in violence?) to PG (not G), whereas Cult is more like PG13. There was some violence and some blood but except for some of the earlier episodes you don't really see the blood or shot, not even at the end scene of the final episode of the show within the show (you hear that one and see the 'blood' from the pack but not the impact). Just when the lady was in the cabin but other than that the violence was actually quite mild in my mind compared to other shows that are on the mainstream.

It was just way too boring, you could tell they were stretching it out hoping the last couple of episodes would make you forget the others. It wasn't hard to follow or too complicated, just hard to pay attention to for long periods of time. Half the time i was doing something else by the middle of the show to pass the time. They should have made the end the midpoint and gotten there faster. Just another example of writers with no vision thinking we're all zombies.

Yes I find it very hard to watch. It's a bit disjointed, it doesn't flow well. The jumping between the story and the TV show is part of the problem. It could be done much better by having the people watching a tv rather than just randomly throwing up a scene which is actually within the tv show. It's just not well done that's all. The story had a lot of potential but they cancelled it too early. But it's the shows own fault it got cancelled because it's virtually unwatchable and difficult to follow.
