Climbing the elevator wire...

Did anyone else want to put their controller through the TV with how tedious and awful the segment of Leon's campaign was at the end where Simmons is chasing you up the side of the building as you climb the wire? The button prompts are terrible and Leon keeps falling like a retard every 3 seconds. Was this part insanely and poorly done or was it just me?

Really? LB and RB worked? It says to use LT and RT on the screen.

Not even started Leon's campaign yet. But the finale of Jake's campaign has a similar tedious QTE onboard a runaway train carriage against Ustinker the main boss in Jake's campaign. It's so infuriating how badly it was done that I thought I was going to burst a vein or something with the rage I felt. I would honestly have one seriously major heated discussion with Capom if I met them or worse (a fight with them).

Yeah me and my brother (did it on split screen co-op) both struggled with that bit too, it was agonising when I would get so far up only for Leon/Helena to drop the entire distance I just climbed so you had to do it again
Though we did get there eventually

Ugh it was the worst! It sounds simple on paper but I thought it was like god of war when he lifts the gate. As in. Go back and forth quickly in a button mash. So I kept slipping on the plane and falling on the wire till Leon kept catching me.

Come to find out you have to hold each. These and all the stupid instant cheap deaths are stupid.

I destroyed my controller from this scene. This campaign drained too much energy out of me, and answered no questions at all. If Ada and Leon aren't going to f!ck, at the very least they should answer why they're such insufferable characters ans what Ada really wants out of all this.

That part was horrendous. And it kept going on and on.

I hated it too at first. I think it's just badly explained by the QTE icons. Really what you have to do is think of the R1 and L1 buttons like your hands and pretend you're really climbing a rope; you want one hand still fastened and holding the rope while you use the other one to reach up and pull you, hold on, and repeat with the other hand. you wouldn't just go right left right left because you need one hand holding the rope in order to stay up. If that made sense? lol

reply

it made sense. A lot more than their bad QTE. It wasnt their finest moment in the series lol

Holy crap, thought I was the only one. Spent probably a good half an hour trying to climb the f-cking wire! Every three seconds Helena falls on me and I have to grab her and start over again at the bottom. So annoying, it's really not as simple as it sounds. It's very tedious and frustrating!

Other than that though, Leon's campaign was brilliant. I loved the the first half of it, I couldn't put it down.

What was the deal with the prick in the building that tells you to clear the zombies out or he wont open the door to let you upstairs? After you kill them all he operates the shutters and the windows are all sealed shut....
um.. WHY THE F-CK WOULDN'T HE JUST DO THAT TO BEGIN WITH!?!?!??

Absolutely loved this game. Way better than 5 and 4. RE2 and 3 will always remain the best and scariest, but this was a great change with the new technology we have now. Love the graphics and the gameplay... loved they brought back actual zombies this time for Leon's campaign. Chris and Jake were a little too crazy military shoot em up type of things, but still, overall this game is a solid 9/10 for me. No complaints for the most part.

Really? I admit it was a bit long of a QTE but I did it first try. Its not the only sequence in the game like it. But I wasn't playing with anyone to mess me up...the computer does her part wiothout f'n up.

reply

it was a realism thing.

What made that part scary was that the monster was faster than you and you had to hurry. What was just stupid was the constant falling because of shoddy qte directions. In real life you'd know how to climb, may not be very good at it but you wouldnt fall 9000x relying on your partner to keep catching you lol

reply

What was shoddy about the directions? It tells you exactly what to do.

Chris Jericho was a 3-time I.C. Champion. Fact.

reply

It's easier/more intuitive if you ignore the QTE icon and pay attention to the animations instead.

reply

I agree. I don't even look at the button prompts. Just watch Leon's hand and know its time to switch.

reply

I didn't have any problems with it at all, even on professional difficulty it only took me a few minutes to climb up as Leon :/

However, later on I was playing online as Ada and I intersected with another player (Leon) and he kept slipping down on that wire again and again- even though I was shooting Simmons almost non-stop. This went on for like 20+ minutes and I eventually ran out of ammo. I don't know if it was the other guy not pressing the buttons properly or what- but it was so frustrating. I eventually had to quit and restart with A.I. Leon climbing the wire.

reply

I played Leon's game once and only once. I will admit that was not a fun experience at the elevator cable wire. I kept struggling with the controller commands over and over and over, hollering common sense at the TV screen. I got so fed up with struggling to get the damn guy to start climbing the flipping wire, I had to go to GameFAQs to see how to do a command like that. Just as I got Leon started, I didn't slip down since. Then I got annoyed again when that Simmons guy kept returning to give me trouble.

Seriously this is just one example why I drifted away from Resident Evil 6. I don't like the commands. I don't like having to control both the play character and the camera at the same time, I don't like having to do the climb or crawl commands. If I can't enjoy Resident Evil again with set camera angles like in the PS1 era Resident Evils, then at least allow us to change to the Resident Evil 4, 5 camera style where the camera moved where the character moved! I don't like getting headaches and motion sickness after just 20 minutes of gameplay.
