Mana's father gave them the nod.

Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don't throw them at me.

Mana's father DID NOT nod his Ok, instead he stood aside....a sign that they were free to go. But Mutt considered Mana to have been given to him and went after them to stop him, even after the big boss told Mutt to back off. The 2 gang members followed Mutt out to where it was obvious he would go after them so the gang members made sure that didn't happen. That's what you get for defying the big guy!

When Mana's father let them leave, Mutt started yelling at the father.
Then someone off camera told Mutt to shut up.
Mutt then told that other person to shut the F up.

I'm guessing that the unknown person was the big boss that Mana's father had to petition to let Mana into the gang.

It would be a big no no to curse out the boss, then go after the kid when the father and the boss let him leave.
