Ok so I get that Chloe got upset that Peter was planning on taking another journey that would take alot longer than the one they were currently one, but what I don't get is did they reconcile before the end of the movie because part of me felt as if Chloe was starting to drift into that other guy Roger????
And really I thought that vows meant that no matter what, the spouse is suppose to be completely supportive of the other.
The sense of profound betrayal she felt sent her reeling. Call it youth, or just her emotional makeup, that feeling eclipsed everything else, and so she distanced herself from her husband to find perspective. She sought the company and attention of several people as she tried to work out her feelings, most significantly the captain. But there eventually came that moment where he said that he'd made his choices, and for him that meant the sea? which is similar to what she'd accused her husband of. I think that realization put on the brakes. When she read her husband's journal she realized that his "book deal" story was little more than pathetic posturing (for his own sake as much as for anyone else). I think she saw him more as broken than malicious then, but what definitely became clear to her is that he'd had an epiphany of his own, and admitted (at least in writing) how much she meant to him. Only then did she go to him.
That's my take.
