Series finale was..

Disappointing

Boy it sure was. Seemed like it was really gonna be something exciting there for about 20 minutes. Then the bus swerved into schmaltz park and it was all downhill from there. Every opportunity this series had to embrace the spirit of the source material, they swatted it away, right to the bitter end.

It seemed like Elementary would limp to a hollow finish last night after seven seasons, says Angelica Jade Bastién. Unfortunately, there were too many manipulations, she says. "The problems with the series finale, and the final season of Elementary as a whole, lie not so much in what happens but how it happens," says Bastién. "This season being whittled down from 21 episodes to 13 is clearly felt. The writers seem to be trying to force a full season of development into a final hour, making what could be a moving and entertaining concluding chapter into an overwhelming story that is too worried about burning through plot to deliver true emotional closure."

A lot less disappointing than how Conan Doyle ended the Holmes literary series!

Yep, if they were going to go the Cheers Finale route and have it that they were still consulting and we just weren't seeing it any more they could have gone a much better route not just for the finale but the whole season. Could have just been one final season of Holmes and Watson matching wits with Moriarty after she disappears from prison, no time skips and only thing to keep in would be Moriarty's funeral and Holmes not believing she was was dead.

Even the NSA Agent McNally could have turned out to be part of Moriarty's team, instead they went with a Moriarty diet light version in Reichenbach for what to make it like a dig at the power Zuckerberg and others have, just blah. Granted I'm not a huge fan of James Frain, okay he was good in Orphan Black and True Detective, just seems he's often a very similar character, Grimm James Frain, Gotham Theo Galavan and now this one (or maybe I've just seen Frain in one too many shows lately).

Plus it's the kind of show that could be open for a TeleMovie in a couple of years (as Psych has done), some things like Watson adopting could have been part of that, same as Gregson leaving for his life partner. Like I said for mine it would have been better if it was Moriarty final season and the whole she's dead part could have still be in, not so much to be in the TeleMovie but maybe if there were a few one down the track.

It was disappointing. I thought the ratings were really good. Cutting the season length was bad enough.

Still made me sad though. This show was one of my favorites. One of those that I watch reruns of. Comfy.

I honestly was disappointed this whole season. I mean I didn't hate it or anything, but I thought that season six's finale felt more like the end. I was sad that they didn't spend more time in London, especially considering how little screen time the captain and Marcus had this season.
