I just finished seeing the movie. Maybe you're assuming the filme takes place now? If it was situated in the 80's I imagine it would be all right, no, in temporal terms? Is there any part of the movie that makes you situate it in the present day?

By the way, Wikipedia situates it in the late 70's...

Yeah, there are a bunch of anachronisms in that little film, but what kept taking me out of it was the driving from the desert to lighthouse, then driving all the way home. Each lighthouse is farther and farther North. Theyd need more than an afternoon for the first one alone and by the 3rd or fourth theyd need a motel. Too hard to overlook.
I still liked the film and love Juno Temple
