Rooting for a protagonist.....

Honestly, did anyone find Pearce to be a likable protagonist?

reply

No. It doesn't change the fact that I love the game, but no, I had no sympathy for Aiden. The shoehorning of story aspects left a huge disconnect anyway. Example, in the mission where Aiden rescues Jacks... Jacks could not have seen me kill anyone. True, a couple of guys died in that rescue, but all Jacks could have seen on those monitors was Aiden playing with his phone while a junction box exploded. The rest just got the billyclub to the noodle or the extendo choke out. Yet the game still gave me Adien lamenting over "oh noes, Jacks saw me kill someone." I played almost the entire game with FULL vigilante meter, and only lost reputation a couple of times injuring a civilian or cop, but wound up only having ever killed bad guys. And not even many of them, most just getting knocked out. Yet still Aiden shows massive guilt in the end over "all the people I killed." Oh, boo-hoo. I take out a couple dozen gang members and mercenaries and suddenly Aiden's all angsty. No he wasn't likable at all.

So I ignored him and his weak story. Pretty much everyone was a dip$h1t anyway. Clara and T-Bone were moderately OK, but there was little or no character development for either of them. And every other character was either a moron or was wearing the "countdown to betrayal" clock around their neck. Or both.

Maybe I would have enjoyed the game more if it had a decently told story with good characters. But who cares, I enjoyed it a lot anyway. If I want a good story, I'll read a novel.

I didn't care about him or his story. Thats one of the more glaring problems with the game. He looks kind of cool but has zero personality.

If they do poop out another one of these, they need to get a new protagonist or massively over-haul Aiden's character.

I liked his character. He wasn't supposed to be an outgoing entertaining character he was an unhappy, brooding, mourning man always walking the tightrope of good & bad. Its already been confirmed there is a new lead for the sequel and I don't see a problem with that, Pierces story has been told.

It took me a while to beat because I REALLY didn't care for him, or his story, and the gameplay got a little monotonous after a while... I have never experienced such an unrelatable and unlikable main character with such a meaningless plot. What was the point? The system is corrupt, so kill everyone? It's not like finding out the system was corrupt was any sort of plot twist, either. We knew that going in. Aiden was a dick for making everything about his guilt and forcing what's left of his family to leave town. He's literally ruined his sister's life, for no reason.

Boring and selfish although I do wish to eventually finish this game.

No, I did not Like Or Dislike him I Felt nothing for him Which in many ways is worse than dislike because with dislike, at least, comes something he was bland Forgettable and all round dull.

I Couldn't even imagine a soulless robot like him even caring about his niece or his family if you're going to go with the Cliché revenge plot (which is fine) you have to Make the character Likeable or at very least interesting Like Niko Bellic for instance.

Someone Like Niko Was especially a bad guy but he had such a depth and strange reliability to him which made you feel that deep down he was a good guy caught in a bad man's game and speaking for myself I Wanted Him To get his revenge I Wanted him to WIN.With Aidan, I Just wanted his Bland story to finish so I could get back to playing Grand Theft Auto V.
