He barely talks in this season?

Has anyone noticed Marco Polos screentime has been drastically reduced?

Im fine with it, because I think Kublai is much more exiciting. But Im over halfway into the second season now, and I have to laugh at times when Marco speaks just one sentenced in a entire episode. When this show is supposed to be about him.

Also. Did they do something with his makeup? Or the actor sick or something during the shooting here? He looks pale, weak and red eyed during most of the early season.

The show isn't about him at all. If it were they would have started it with him travelling with his father through the treacherous Mongol occupies and war torn middle Asia which was so ripe for an exciting story. It increasingly looks like they instead wanted to make a show about Genghis's descendants (which is admittedly fascinating too,) but needed a label to sell it to Western audiences. Enter the token Latin guy who is then benched.

IMO, Marco is the weakest character on the show and really seemed to serve no purpost other than just being there. The less of him the better.

Marco polo is merely a spectator in the story. that's kinda what the stories of him appeared to be. the main story is about the khans descendants while marco was present to observe the carnage.
