One of the very few intro songs...

...I can sit through multiple times. It really is haunting, relaxing. There are some reasonably decent intro themes out there, I think Daredevil is good, as is GoT's and Black Sails'. Some are just 'meh' like the one for Peaky Blinders. There are also some absolutely atrocious ones out there, like that unintelligible abomination that is Killjoy's, or the one for Orange is the New Black. But this one is great and I don't mind sitting through it each time.

Peaky blinders doesn't really have an intro.

I said "intro song." And yes, Peaky Blinders does have one. "Red Right Hand" plays at the beginning of almost every episode. It definitely features somewhere in each. Even the recent funeral episode began with a version of it sang (badly) by a woman.

Yes, I know Peaky blinders has an intro song, but I thought you meant a real intro. Peaky Blinders doesn't have a real intro, all you hear is 'Red Right Hand'.

I watch most of the other shows you mentioned and they all have a real intro. I think Black Sails has the best intro.

reply

And youuuu got tiiiime...

Yes I loathe the OITNB theme song.

reply

Lol Killjoys theme is awful! OitNB's the worst though. And I'm happy I'm not the only one who likes the Black Sails intro -- it seems a lot of fans hate it. All the Netflix shows have really long intros, and this is the best one and the only one I don't skip

reply

I watched all of S1 of Killjoys and I still have absolutely no idea what that woman is saying in that song. I even listened to just the song several times.

reply

Yeah I hate OitNB's theme. It sounds like pure noise. Great show with some great actresses Aduba, Laverne Cox, Danielle but I always fast forward through that godawful theme music.

reply

The OITNB theme song is horrific. Not only is it complete garbage musically, with a woman wailing over an ugly power chord progression with awful tone, but the photos are unappealing as well.

I know they're going for an "OMG GRRRRL POWER!!!" type thing there, but it rings false because they use plenty of attractive actresses in the real cast just like every other show. Piper, Alex, Brook, Maritza, Lorna, Stella, Aleida, etc.

Apparently the performer is Regina Spektor, who is lauded as some sort of musical genius for throwing together a song that sounds like it was rejected material from a Donnas album.

Vikings has a great intro song too. "If I Had A Heart" by Fever Ray. Check it out.

reply

I was going to mention that one too! And Strikeback also has a great song, Short Change Hero by The Heavy.

reply

I was just listening to that whole song on YT. Man, that is an awesome tune.

Although its like a decade old, Borgia has to be one show that has a great intro theme next to Marco Polo. Always loved when it came on.

reply

I love the Marco Polo intro as well; nice blend of Mongolian/Chinese, with that Italian mandolin in the back. Very cool.

There are several TV shows out there with good, 1 minute or so intro pieces. Some I can think of:

Marco Polo
Daredevil
Game of Thrones
Farscape (weird, I know, but I liked it anyway)
Rome
BSG (season 1 in the US)
The Tudors
Black Sails

Whores will have their trinkets.
