How scary is it?

How scary is it comparing it to the previous two?

in my opinion its very scary same as the first two, in this one you still come across plenty of rooms and hallways filled with blood along with plenty of flashy, broken lights and once again you are completely alone through the entire game...however on normal mode u do get a *beep* ton of ammo this time and u can craft some badass weapons which do give you a sense of some ease but not much so yes its still very scary

I'd say it's more scary for someone who hasn't played the first two and isn't that familiar with the gameplay.
Things like universal ammo and the fact that enemies just bumrush you all the time takes s lot of the survival horror character. It's still full of jump scares and has some pretty spooky places to offer though.
While IMO DS2 is the best part of the series the third one is pretty enjoyable if you like dark scifi-horror. Just ignore the last quarter ;-)

It does a very good job of just holding the tension. Sometimes you think you know when the scare is going to happen. But so often you are convincingly misled by the sound design - which is aces throughout. They intentionally make the grind of the hatches and elevators so similar to the shriek of the necromorphs that you are on edge right when you think you are at the safety of the next room.

While I do love the games, they are victims of their own successes. I typically can't play more than a couple of houra at a time because of the anxiety they induce in me - which clearly means they are working. Relentlessly. Dead Space 3 is long; so there are so rests and lulls. But I found it as scary as the others.

Not really very scary, but then again I'm used to it from number 1. The reason it isnt scary is because imho the scare tactics are the same as what we've already seen twice before. Its still a fantastic game though, and the last quarter of the game is absolutely stunning. Definitely recommend!

The first game is, in my opinion, the scariest by far. Partially because it was a new, unexpected threat, and the necromorph design was pretty horrific, and partially because of the slower pace, with no big action set pieces and our silent protagonist slowly losing his grip on reality.

The second game introduced the 'panic button' idea, giving us terrifying bosses like the Tormentor, adrenaline-pumping enemies like the stalkers and that absolutely shocking 'tutorial'. It wasn't as forboding as the first game, but it had its share of scares.

The third game is very much Dead Space moving from Alien to Aliens; it's still got horror elements, but it's largely an action piece. There's jump scares and a chilling vibe in the air through much of the game (I especially found the last quarter or so to be quite uncomfortable), but it's not outright scary. You feel like too much of a badass to be scared, and the enemies come at you in such a ridiculous, Zerg-like fashion that it just turns you into a killing machine more than someone trying to survive. It makes sense, I suppose, since our hero has survived two impossible situations with these monsters, and is now on a mission to end them once and for all. I would expect a much more confident protagonist in that scenario.

What made the first game scary on the PC was the god awful controls weighing you down. Had they been as smooth as in the second and third games, it would have been about half as scary. It's still a great game, don't get me wrong. But I did try to do another playthrough after finishing the second game, and I'd rather have my dick diced than deal with everything they did wrong on the PC version.

The second game is by far the best, when playability is taken into consideration. The plot is superb. I am starting to warm up to the third game's weapon crafting system, though, after about 7 playthroughs.

The second game moved from Alien to Aliens. It was the first action piece. The third is like Alien Resurrection. And what they did to Ellie's character (not just her appearance) in the third game is atrocious. She's basically just a talking cleavage now.

Not as scary as the first Dead Space or 2.

It's mostly an action game.

It still has scary moments, but it's clearly more action oriented.
The scariest thing is usually the hordes of zombies that come after you. In almost every room you get cornered by a bunch of them and have to fight it out.
