Ending Theories - possible spoilers

I'm curious how everyone thinks this is going to end?

From scenes (for tonight 4/10) I'm guessing Romero makes it to the Bates home, but no one will be there. Do we think Romeo will be killed (not necessarily by Norman), be arrested or just leave town?

There is a scene that was shown with "this season on Bates" where Mother tells Norman she cant have a life with Norman standing in her way and then puts his head in what looks to be a toilet. Do we think Mother will "kill Norman" on the inside to fully take control?

I don't think they are going to kill off Dylan, but he might feel "chained" to Norman.

Will Norman/Mother make it out alive?

reply

I don't think Romero is going to show up until the end of the episode...or he'll be there when the police arrive and have to wait around. As for "Mother" killing Norman - I can see her fully taking control like at the end of Psycho. That may or may not be the ending.

Romero, Dylan and especially Chick - dead and "Norman" in a way with Mother taking full control. The other B/C characters are expendable, they could live, they could die.

I could see a supposed happy ending where Norman believes Mother is gone - Dylan and him are good, but Mother has tricked Norman and Dylan is killed. Emma will believe that Dylan abandoned her. I'm sorry, but I don't think there should be any happy endings for anyone at the end of a play on Psycho. They've been doing really good this season - hopefully they don't screw it up.

I'm sure after tonight I'll have a new theory. Every week it changes...

reply

Well, you can cross Chick off your list.

I agree, about no one getting a happy ending, meaning not everyone has to die/get killed.

Now that they've finally brought Marion Crane into the story (unremarkably, too, imo), and sort of resolved that iconic bit from the original film, I think this is how the finish of the series will also sort of copy from the film:

Norman will get released from jail, either due to lack of evidence or Dylan will post bail. He'll confront Romero and Mother will kill him to protect Norman. Either Emma or Madeleine will show up at the house looking for either Dylan or Sam (I think it can go either way which one of them it will be), and after making some disturbing discoveries will encounter Norman in full Mother garb who will attack her but be saved at the last second by Dylan. Norman will wind up in the loony bin, still in Norma persona talking about "she wouldn't hurt a fly."

Hm interesting take on the ending. I wouldn't say it's a "predictable ending" but it's what everyone is expecting and want to happen. I'm hoping for something completely different, but to each their own.

Like everyone was expecting for Marion to die and she didn't - Sam Loomis got it. Reminds me of what The Walking Dead has done, switched deaths around, because if the audience is expecting that to happen - they want to switch things around and surprise the audience.

Overall, whatever they do hopefully it's great.

I think Norma will kill Romero...he loved her completely but she only has room in her heart for Norman. I think "she" will protect him.

Dylan and Emma are so boring, I don't really care what happens with them.

Romero to Chick..."say it like a normal person." 😂🔫

reply

Well, there are 3 male leads - Romero, Norman and Dylan - I think at least one or two of them will not survive the finale.

And I wonder will we get to see/hear from "Norman" again? I think they are playing off of the Psycho movie since the ending had Norman in the mother persona.

I can see the mother persona taking Romero somewhere else and maybe killing him and returning to the Bates home where Dylan will arrive for some reason. I really don't know - was hoping for more people to post to play off of their theories. I think Dylan may attempt to kill Norman you know, "put him down" from hurting other people because of what Madeline said to him.

We didn't get a "promo" for the final episode, but that clip of scenes we've already seen. But I noticed 2 scenes that I don't think I've seen before: 1 -Dylan in car with a gun (was that new?) and 2 - Romero and Norman in the car and Romero is putting a gun to Norman's head...

I wanted them to find Bradley's body to tie into the "early seasons" but I think they will either not - leave it alone. Or it will be the final shot to "symbolize" the Psycho movie.

reply

I thought Romero was a goner while he was chocking Norman and glad they didn't have him go out that way. Romero is smart, but I don't think he knows about Norman's mother persona. Maybe he'll find out Monday.

reply

Yeah, I think Romero sees Norman as this manipulative "boy" but he doesn't realize what else is going on in Norman's head.

reply

They could still find Bradley's car at the end. Her car actually had the same license plates as Marion's in the movie, so that could be foreshadowing.

reply

Right, that's why I thought they should/will find it.

reply

There's also a shot of Dylan shoving Norman up against a car, and a scene of Emma sitting on a chair crying. I think "Mother" will handle Romero, and Dylan will confront her when the ball drops about Caleb.

reply

That shove didn't happen yet? I thought I remember that happening unless it was in the Season 5 Promo Package they were playing before the season started...? I figured the final episode would mostly take place at night and that was a day scene, so I don't know. You'd think that area would be swarm with cops at that point.

I think that Emma crying scene may be "new" for next week. Maybe she learns about someone else is dead and/or the stress of recent "events"

I was beginning to forget about Caleb and thinking Dylan may never know/learn about what happened to him.

We better see this classic ending!! TPTB cheated us out of Marion in the shower ( how I hated the re-do, and Rihanna).

reply

Cheated us out of the "Marion" in the shower? They didn't "re-do" it all. Don't you see they didn't want to do the exact same thing that happened in the movie? At least that's what I thought IMO.

reply

yes, I get 'artistic license' but hated it!

reply

I think Dylan will come upon Romero trying to kill Norman, and will kill Romero. The Mother MAY kill Dylan.
