Marion a let down

She didn't impress.
If they had some determination to race switch, there are plenty of talented and beautiful black actresses out there.

I didn't know who Rihanna was before this and was not impressed. The other actors are so good, she took me out of every scene she was in.

She bought her credits in this definitely. Its a shame for all the talented actresses out there to be outruled by fame and money.

I was beyond pissed when I found out they cast her as Marion. Worst choice ever for such an iconic character. I think A&E is submitting her name for Emmy consideration too.

I don't think RiRi was the problem... the character had nothing to work with.

Agreed. Really their only one instance of stunt casting, and it was awful. I really don't care if they want to change the race, but not Rihanna. She was very wooden.

I liked how they changed the shower scene though. Would've been bad to ignore it completely, but of course trying to do the same thing would've come off poorly, especially with this performer. They made it their own thing and I felt it worked, and by having Madeleine be Norman's object of affection, which turned into hate for Sam, kept some original elements about him liking her based on her similar appearance to Mother.
