they've released a casting call for Sam

So I guess that effectively kills the theory of Dylan and Emma taking over the Sam and Lilah roles. Always felt mixed about that. Could've been cool, could've felt like a waste.

If he were just a little younger, I would say Oz Perkins. Kind of would have been cool to see Tony's son play a role. He resembles him, & actually is an actor. For that matter have Vera Miles as someone in the background. It would pay a little homage to Hitchcock.

reply

Vera Miles is 86 and retired from acting in 1995. She has been flying low under the radar since her retirement, so it isn't known what her health situation is. But she refused to meet with Jessica Biel in preparation for the Hitchcock movie in 2012.

reply

Yea, I doubt it would happen. But that's why I said just to have a small clip of her in the background would be fun. I think they've done a superb job at not "ruining" anything Hitchcock did, unlike trying to do re-makes of his work.

There are only 14 years between Rihanna and Oz Perkins, and that's real life, before writing and make-up are taken into account. And there are certainly many couples with bigger age differences in real life (my own sister and her husband are 18 years apart). It could work, that'd be cool. But it would also feel like giving it to him "just because."

reply

Although, are they still going to go with the "they need the money to get married" route? If Sam is that much older than Marion it might not work as well (though, in this day and age, needing money to get married isn't necessarily a tangible plotline as it is). Though in the film (not in the novel IIRC) he has an ex-wife he's paying alimony too, so that fits in with being older.

I'd like to see Aja Naomi King as Lila, though she's actually a few years older than Rihanna. (Somewhat of a holdover from when I wanted Kerry Washington as Marion :D)

reply

He looks younger than 42, to me at least. Too bad him & Freddie don't look similar. They could have had an ending shot of a much older Norman, & it being Oz. And then that sly smile-of which look like Tony's.
Darn, they didn't think ahead :)

reply

If it's true, that's kind of a bummer for me as far as Dylan/Emma playing the Sam/Lila roles are concerned. I sort of wanted Emma to find out the truth about Norman; maybe she still will.

reply

Here's hoping they will be tied into Norman's downfall. It has to happen.

reply

I still think Dylan and Emma will be back to investigate Audrey's disappearance, which will lead them to Norman. If not, why did Dylan find Audrey's earring? Why did Emma get the stuffed animal and Audrey's letter? She's going to wonder why her mother mysteriously disappeared. Yep, it's going to happen. And I believe Dylan and Emma are the only major characters who will survive. Norman will survive, too, but he'll be insane.

reply

I've always felt Norman will kill Emma or she will disappear to do her own thing if she even lives long because of her CF. Dylan will die in some mysterious way or refuse to ever speak to Norman again and will never be spoken of again.

Since the events with Marion take place several years after Norma's death, anything can happen and they probably won't be a part of his life at that point at all.

I'm really thinking they're going to age Norman and show him alone in the hotel several years later by the time Marion shows up.

reply

I don't think that would be possible since Romero is alive & after Norman. Romero's current story line has to be addressed in the present. And this is supposed to be the last season. I also don't think they are following cannon that way with timelines.

reply

It has to happen.

not neccesarily

I'm pretty sure "Sam" is a woman named Madeliene. I think if they were going to cast Sam and Lila we would have heard who they were by now. I think the roles of Sam and Lila will be either Dylan and Emma, or Dylan and this Madeliene lady after Emma possibly dies of her disease.

My gut feeling is that Alex won't be alive past the first four or so episodes, and I could see his death bringing Dylan back to town. Since he's a public figure, him dying couldn't go under the radar the way it did with Norma.

reply

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Norma's death went that far under the radar. Chick found out about it, and a deleted scene shows that Dr. Edwards found out. The only reason Dylan doesn't know yet is because he left town, and Norman attempted to cut their ties in the season finale. I fully believe that people will know that Norma is dead, but only Alex knows the real cause.
