Will there be a Season 2???

I forgot this was a BBC show and will only have 6 episodes but will there be a season 2? I am very curious to know what will become of these ladies and also if there will be more introduced to us?

I hope so - I thought it was brilliant. I have a young baby and don't get to watch much TV but this has been the only thing I have made sure I've sat down to watch. I hope that if they do make another series it's as good as the first one and doesn't introduce too many new characters. I wouldn't want it to go downhill, or stupid

Good news - there will be a second series of "prisoners wives"!! Just been on the BBC website and its official, the series has been commisionmed. Great news.

Thank You for your information. I was so hoping that there was going to be a season 2 and couldn't find anything to indicate so. I don't find much on TV that I care to watch but this was a wonderful show and I adore each character. I just hope that they bring back the originals.

What I took from the final scene–Gemma crossing the paths of all those other wives and girlfriends on her way out—is the implication that if there was going to be a second series, it would be about a whole new cast of women on the outside. I wouldn't mind the odd returning characters, they were all interesting, but it's also great to have a lot of new stories.

Series 2 has recently finished filming in Sheffield and will be on TV soon.

Pippa Haywood and Polly Walker are back, along with Iain Glen and David Bradley.

No return for Emma Rigby or Jonas Armstrong though.

And Anne Reid is joining the cast.

I do hope there is a third series and a longer and less rushed one than we have just seen.
