Kumari is the name of a Goddess,especially in Nepal.
The "thing" depicted in this film is a vastly distorted version of a Kuman Thong: A dead child's spirit placed in a small statue who acts as a friend and advisor if you treat it as a real child.It brings luck in business but if it isn't happy it will leave.
