Liked it until....(spoilers)

First off, I really enjoyed the show…and will definitely watch a second season.

But I hated the final episode. It was such a letdown to me. Not talking about the election here, but that the election was the only story that was resolved or even touched upon really. Nothing was advanced or wrapped up. Cole got a little bit of something, and they opened the door for season 2, but that was it.
Not that I am some huge romantic here, but come on Ben and Lindsay never even kissed. That is the ONE plotline where we know how it all turns out, and they just left their story on Halloween.

Also, throughout all of the interview sequences, there was a tone that at some point the election would get REALLY bad at some point. Ben’s initial interview saying that he wouldn’t do it again, Cole in Jail, KJ constantly looking sad when thinking of those days. But it never got really bad, or if it did, it never seemed like it did. There were bombshells, sure, but it never went to a really dark place like was being set up in the interviews. For example, the episode "The Comment" started with Ben and Lindsay saying something like "Oh yeah, The Comment! I remember that day being really terrible!" Then there were a few phone calls, some arguments about the dinner, and that was about it. Nothing that would lead me to believe that this single day was burned into the memory of all who lived it.
Maybe the tense feeling was meant to carry over into a second season…but if that were true, the final lines of the episode should have been Ben saying “I thought I knew what this was about…but I had no idea what was coming…”

The cast and performances were generally pretty good. Alison was fun the whole time, if generally left to be the Jim to Jordan’s Dwight. Tak and Cole had a great divide between the serious and silly and stayed believeable in both halves.
But I really was disappointed in the way things were left overall No cliffhangers really, just unanswered questions...which really aren’t the same thing.
