My Own Worst Enemy was probably a better show

I'll admit I am writing this based solely on the previews that have aired on television since the actual show has yet to be broadcast. However, my first thought was: “I liked this show better the first time I saw it – when it was named ‘My Own Worst Enemy’”!

I'll give it a chance, but I also thought immediately of My Own Worst Enemy and suspect this may turn out to be a pale shadow/imitation of that show. We shall see.

reply

I also agree. Some of these networks kills me when they cancel one show without barely giving it a chance and then decide to air another one just like it. Then its not fair to that show since no one wants to give it chance because the last show like it got cancelled. There goes the ratings, then it too gets cancelled. It's a never ending cycle.

Same here.

And NBC cancelled My Own Worst Enemy. If I remember correctly, they cancelled it mid-season.

So from the start, this show seems like it's got an uphill battle ahead of it.

What I don't understand, is this.

Why would, NBC, create a show, that is, or has the same idea as, My own worst enemy? Why not, just bring, MOWE, back? Even the advertisement during the commercials, is almost the same for both shows.

Next thing you know. NBC will make a new show with a guy who travels through time.....oh, oops, NBC did that with Quantum Leap and canceled it too. At least that lasted for 5 seasons.

I agree with you totally, but please get your commas under control

or what you'll give him a knuckle sandwich?

EXACTLY!!!!! My Own Worst Enemy & Awake as well.

I had already forgotten about Awake. So NBC isn't making the same mistake a 2nd time, they're making the same mistake a 3rd time. I mean to be honest, not only does this look worse than MOWE, but it also looks worse than Awake. If those two shows didn't make it then how in the world does NBC think this will make it? NBC used to have good dramas but now they keep putting out dud after dud after dud.

reply

I was just about to make a thread about this, this show does sound similar to My Own Worst Enemy, but MOWE was more action oriented and probably more lighter in it's execution of the subject matter. Another user mentioned Awake, though the same a little myself too.

My ignore list is quite large.

I was thinking the same thing about My Own Worst Enemy.. but it wasn't a great show, and yeah it does look like NBC is making the same mistake AGAIN.. and don't get me wrong LOVE Slater.. but I'll at least try and watch the show. I liked Pasquale on "Rescue Me".

reply

This show seems darker to me tonally, based on the pilot, and plus, I thought My Own Worst Enemy was pretty awful. Blech.

I am glad you posted this I was thinking it is the same as Worst enemy which was canceled after a few episodes, NBC never gave it a chance

reply

I don't have high confidence in this show, someone I don't think the show will make it to a double digit episode tally. But I might check it out to see if the show can change my mind.
