I hope so. I really used to like this show but I'm watching S05E03 now and it's like watching paint dry. I don't mind a slow paced show but this is pure torture, especially compared to the way the show used to move right along. It seems like they tried to stretch the material from one or two episodes into 6. I can't recall ever having watched a more depressing episode in my life.

Plus the characters are, for the most part, all loathsome, the plot arcs are flat and illogical, and the acting is not what it was in the first 4 seasons. I'm glad they decided to pull the plug on this show.

However, to be fair...FINALLY...with the re-introduction of Fred Aberline in S05E05, along with a plot arc that actually makes sense, the show received a MUCH NEEDED breath of fresh air and sanity.

Then the finale, much like the season, seemed WAY too drawn out and uneven. There were some satisfactory resolutions, and others that were totally off the wall, like Mimi Morton running off to marry some old dude who was about to die. WTH?!! Anyway...Ripper Street, and IMDb message boards...R.I.P.
