What Is Zeke Tenhoff Actually Worth? You May Be Surprised....

One of the problems with this show is that the "Cast" are paid so much money that they don't actually need to find gold any more.

After all, if you were paid around $500,000 a season for playing to the camera, would you bother doing a "real" job?

Here's why Zeke doesn't need to go dredging any more:

Wait, I thought I heard him saying that he was dead broke and could barely afford groceries during an episode this season?

reply

So was Vern. But then we see him in his brand new home complete with considerably younger "mail order" oriental wife.

Does anyone care about him having an $8,000 armchair, complete with internet ports in one armrest and a drinks refrigerator in the other? Nope.

Did he seem concerned he was "about to go broke"? Nope.

Because he isn't. It's all one big joke at the expense of the viewers.

That's the benefit of having a six figure paycheck from the Discovery Channel, and living in fantasy TV land ;-)

Just wait. In the next series, he'll come back with an even bigger and better dredge despite pleading poverty. Notice the trend:

Zeke. Pleads poverty and about to go bust. New dredge.
Emily. Singing debts and about to go bust. New dredge.
Steve Reidel. About to go bust and on another planet. New dredge.

The less money you make, the bigger and newer the dredge you end up with. I hear they grow on trees in Nome :-)

Oh, and I forgot to mention something.

Remember in one of the earlier episodes that Zeke apparently had a new cute blonde girlfriend? (I believe she picked him up from the slammer?)

Strange that she hasn't appeared in any of the following episodes.

I believe the movie world has a term for girls like that......

Extras! ;-)

reply

His girlfriend seems to be pretty upper teir for Nome I suppose. What does she see in that jagoff? I guess some girls go for the mental cases.

reply

She was in the most recent episode where her and Zeke open a food van supplying southern cuisine.Weird story about how they got together....

reply

I was wondering about all the new dredges too.
Emily always crying about how she's so broke, yet can somehow secure a bank loan? Banks in Alaska don't require someone to have a regular income or collateral or even a home (doesn't she live wherever there might be a bed?) before handing out loans of that size?
Move to Alaska, live in a tent, don't produce any gold, call yourself a diver but be afraid of the water....and banks apparently line up to hand out $50,000 at a time!

reply

That's an eye-opener. Thanks for sharing the link. :)

That website is notoriously inaccurate. No way is any individual on that show pulling in $50k an episode. The Duck Dynasty guys just negotiated $200k per episode to be split between the whole family and they're the highest rated "reality" show on TV by a country mile. Bering Sea Gold isn't going to have a budget even close to that.

reply

Even the producers, I'm guessing only some get serious money.. Because they'd have to be good actors, to look as miserable - while being rich - when we get to see a lot of the behind-the-scenes shootings from many of the shows. Suppose it's the network managers, sitting in comfy chairs (while others enjoy fresh air in Alaska and on the Bering Sea for example), that rake in the bucks.

reply

The pple on shows like this and deadilest catch dont make anything per ep. or very little.

They get money buy doing like talk show stuff , or after shows. Or like on the more popular shows like gold rush you will see workers drive brand new trucks, those trucks are given to them so there shown on air. Same for equipment on the show.

they can make good money off the shows , but not directly.

I realize this is an old post, but that link (at least now) says he has a net work of $100k. that's not very much. definitely not enough to give up on working for a living. remember that net worth includes all the things you own, now how much you have in your bank account. It doesn't mean he can even afford groceries... If he managed to pay off his *beep* truck and his *beep* house, that's probably $100k right there.

reply

100K is not that much money.

He does NOT make 500K per season. That is absurd.

The average middle class American who owns a home and has 20 years in the work force is easily worth 500,000. This is based on the value of home equity and the value of his/her pension or other retirement accounts.

If Zeke Tenhoff is only worth 100 K and living in Alaska (one of the most expensive places on the planet), then he's dangerously poor.

There is no way in hell these people are paid large sums for their appearances. This isn't a highly rated network sitcom, its a small, niche cable show with a limited audience.

This thread is ignorant speculation.

I'll take Punctuality

reply

Not to mention that Zeke is mentally unstable.
I wouldn't go to sea with him without a TAZER and a stiff club at my side.

reply

I don't know what the creator of this thread was smoking but having $100,000 isn't a whole lot of money. That is why Zeke is gold mining still.

reply

If the show has any truth to it at all, in this latest episode it showed Zeke is an utter complete moron and failure at gold dredging just as everyone thought all along. Why he even has this reputation of knowing what hes doing is beyond me, or self proclaimed and somehow it spread around. He thought he was genuinely on good gold this last episode and then got a measly 13 ounces, to the bosses and everyones disappointment. At this point he should just admit defeat and stop this semi-insane dredging lifestyle hes been doing for good. And fly out of Alaska if he has anywhere else to call a home. Or he can always go the full crazy route like Steve Reidel and become a psychotic beach bum in Nome.

reply

Wasn't Zeke the one in Season One who quit his job as a Teacher to go dredge on that little raft?

reply

You are thinking about Ian Foster, owner of the Sluicey, a small one or two man dredge from season one. He was in 8 episodes.
