Emily's First Mate

Emily's deckhand/first mate looks an awful lot like Nick McGlashan the deck boss on Cape Caution(Wild Bill's boat) on Deadliest Catch. Except on this show he is silent/no attitude. Is it the same dude?

reply

It indeed is, you can find the information on his Twitter account. Wonder why Bering Sea Gold is keeping this quiet and Nick is never heard from on the show?

It has happened before: last year, Cody (one of the guys who works for Shawn on the Christine Rose) was working as a deckhand (on the Cornelia Marie) on the deadliest catch.

reply

Yep it is. He's probably silent here because he's on the bottom of the totem pole as someone who has never dove before. He's a dick on deadliest catch because he's been there for a while and thinks he's the *beep* over everyone else

Wonder what the timeline is here? Nick was supposedly off the Cape Caution due to alcohol problems. On Bering Sea this would have had to been filmed last summer. He is on Deadliest Catch this season so what is real story?

reply

The two crabbing seasons (opilio+king) filmed for deadliest catch are in fall+winter so he had plenty of time to get to nome for the summer gold season.

reply

Yep this ^. Deadliest Catch is filmed during the winter, and is usually no more than 2-3 months in total depending on what type of crab each boat is fishing for.

That's probably the same time that Bering Sea films it's winter season so that would leave plenty of time for Nick to arrive for the summer season

reply

Ok so this season's Deadliest Catch was filmed in late fall/winter 2014-15 and then Nick filmed Bering Sea in summer after that correct?

I always thought that Deadliest Catch was shown in April/May/June right after the October to February Opilio/King Seasons right before that. I was unaware the show is actually filmed a year and half prior to it being on TV if I am seeing this right.

I think it's actually Bering Sea Gold that is more behind. On Deadliest Catch we seem to be seeing 2015 fall king crab season and 2016 winter Opie season. But on Bering Sea Gold we are watching the 2015 summer season. So Nick dredged with Emily in the summer of 2015 (one year ago) and then went back to Dutch in time for king crabbing Oct 2015. So everything we've seen of Nick on DC Season 12 happened after he was dredging.
