These Bastards ripped off Groundhog Day

To be fair, it wasn't original with Groundhog Day, either, it was used in a science fiction movie in the mid-'80s (sorry, can't remember the title). It just worked so well in "Groundhog Day" that it's stuck with people.

It's an irresistible premise. Was used to good effect in the short-lived series "Day Break", and in episodes of at least a couple of other series (like "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Supernatural"). Also in a movie called "Repeaters".

So, it's not necessarily a rip-off when a premise is reused. After a certain point, it's an homage, or simply a genre convention. How many horror movies are variations on "Night of the Living Dead"? (And some people would say George Romero ripped off "Last Man on Earth", which was a filmed adaptation of Richard Matheson's seminal 1957 novel "I Am Legend". I'd say he was inspired by an image and took it in his own direction.)

Apparently they're filming some of this movie in my area (Atlanta, GA). Passed by a neighborhood with signs saying "Premature" and "Crew Parking". So I looked it up out of curiosity.
