I know that the actual words spoken by Laurent is immaterial. But I would like to know what he speaks to Shashi on the two occasions he speaks out his heart.
*Spoiler alert*
On the first occasion when he calls her from the class Laurent says, "If I fell in love with you, it was despite me. I would love to see you again and maybe go for a cup of coffee".
On the second occasion when he sees her at the wedding he says, "No matter what happens, meeting you will have been a very special part of my life, thank you for that."
Thank you. I realized they left it untranslated because of the previous dialog between Laurent and Shashi about some things being left so.

Another film that touches on this theme is a Turkish film called "Başka Dilde Aşk" (Love In Another Language), where a woman meets and falls in love with a man who is partially deaf.
I like to think that Laurent opened his own French restaurant in New York and found a nice lady, with eyes like drops of coffee in a pool of milk :)
