Lots of gratuitous NON-nudity
While this isn't the worst horror film ever, it follows a very annoying post-millenial horror trend: the gratuitous non-nude scenes. This is when you have hot actresses who refuse to actually do nudity (in this case since several of them produced the movie), so they consider it a good idea instead to throw in numerous scenes of these actresses NOT QUITE getting naked. This is NOT a good idea. It's actually highly annoying and far more distracting than actual nude scenes would be. Obviously, there are great post-millenial horror movies with no female nudity--Session 9, Let the Right One In, House of the Devil, The Babadook, It Follows. But these films also don't contain all these teasing NON-nude scenes. Movies like this one are just like movies with lots of gratuitous female nudity in that they use T and A to distract the male viewers from how crappy they are, but then they try to do it without any actual T and A!
In this movie one girl has sex in the woods without taking off any of her clothes--including her pants. Another girl has a non-nude shower scene. And the third girl gets peeped on while changing--all the way down to her Victoria's Secret bra. These scenes are every bit as cliche, pointless, and unnecessary to the plot as they would be in a T and A film, except there's no T and A. So why even put these scenes in? It's like starting a car chase or a shoot-out and then cutting away and letting it all transpire offscreen. It's a set-up without a payoff and it shows a great contempt for the majority of the film's own audience.
