What do you think about the series so far?

I'm surprised at how few posts there are on this message board, and just wondered if it's because not many people are watching it?

For those who are, what do you think of the show so far? I'm really enjoying it, I love the Simon Kapita character, and love what his wife stands for. I'm cringing each time I see his ex with her other former/current lover too, and what is happening because of this.

I think it's an interesting series. I've only fairly recently started watching more foreign language dramas with subtitles, but I'm impressed by this show. I thought at first that it might be a little boring for me, with the politics, but I've been surprised.

It's no Borgen but it is good, not great, but good. I like the idea of Kapita and his protégé being on opposing sides and trying to predict what the other is going to do. I also like the character of Philippe Deleuvre - he manages to be miserable, powerful but also quite creepy.

I wish they had gone with an English translation of the original title i.e. "The Men in the Shadows" rather than "Spin" though and some of the English translations of dialogue can be a bit clunky.

Viewing figures have been OK, for More4. 449,000 for ep.1 (3rd most watched show on the channel), 364,000 for ep.2 and 326,000 for ep.3.

As the second season has already aired in France I'm hoping we may not have to wait too long for that to be shown.

Oh I do hope that we get the 2nd series.
The viewing figures may not be fantastic, but they're not dropping too much.

I'm very much enjoying the interplay between all the characters, the main political movers and groovers, lol. I was saddened by the end of tonight's episode, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Yes, the original title sounds much better than Spin, I meant to look up what the last word translated to in the French original title, as it quite obviously wasn't Spin.

I'm looking forward to what happens in the storyline, and think I might try out some of the other Walter Presents shows on my laptop.

I think the few posts might be because maybe IMDB is not that popular in France. Not sure if they even have a French version of the website.

I thought they could have wrapped up the 1st season in 5 episodes, instead of 6, which made it seem stretched

Hmm, I see what you mean about IMDB not possibly existing in France. I suppose I was hoping more of the viewers elsewhere may have been commenting.

The show has hardly been promoted in the UK. I found it accidently when reading the review of another show.
It's, I suppose, a cross between Borgen, West Wing and House of Cards, with very good turns from the cast. The dirty tricks campaigns added tension and the rivalry between Simon and Ludo as well as that betweem Deleuvre's camp and that of Anne Visage has been gripping.

Only face I recognise is that of Gregory Fitousi, who was such a big favourite in Engrenage aka Spiral.

IMDB exists in France and anywhere else for that matter as it's ON the internet. IMDB Is also available in French but most people don't use it over there, since the popular site for film and TV is Allo Ciné.

The same thing can be said of youtube where most people in France use Dailymotion instead.
