Actually felt a bit ripped off (spoiler alert)...

...after all the hype promoting the film as starring Apolo Ohno, they literally kill him off within the first 5 minutes.

The entire film is pretty much MINUS Apolo Ohno. I don't even think he had 5 lines total before he plunges to his death.

Good grief.

My thoughts exactly.....I mean, I waited for over a year to see this thing, thinking, hey, he's bound to last at least an hour. Not...You know, seven minutes...

I was pretty surprised myself, like that might as well as been a cameo! Though I looked past it and liked the movie!

Life isn't a garden, so stop acting like a hoe

I was surprised but shouldn't have been. I mean in-production shots of him impaled had been floating around since at least Dec '11. I'll admit it. Not a big gore fan, but I am a big Ohno fan. I figured, I know what my tolerance limit is, and would at least try and stick it out. Nothing against the movie, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
...But at least there was a hair ruffle! :D

You would think they would have kept him around for awhile and kill off one of the other "red shirts". I cant believe he was that bad an actor. You know people would like to see him more than the others.

Even he is limited as an actor (I have no idea if he is or not), the writers could have easily accommodated his abilities. He could have easily handled a larger role as a member of an ensemble cast in a creature-feature horror movie. He could be convincing as an outdoor adventurer, athletic type since he actually is athletic. And once the action got started, he would have just been running around the forest like the other characters did.

Yeah, it's a bummer that his character got killed off so quickly. It was kind of bizarre. I guess it's kind of like Steven Seagal's appearance in that airplane terrorist movie. (I won't mention the title just in case there are still a few action movie fans who haven't seen that one.)
