Didn't understand the message of the movie.

Can somebody explain to me the message of the movie, please? I didn't get it... I just think it was a mix of Disney characters singing, but the writer didn't know what to do with them anyway. :(
It has many. Make sure you're a good parent to your kids or else they will grow up with the wrong ideals. You decide what's right or wrong but your actions will always have consequences. The grass isn't always greener.

To be fair, the movie isn't nearly as thematically consistent as the play was. Many of the changes / cuts made in the adaptation process served to undercut the thematic thrust of the play in varying degrees.
sharePrecisely why Disney was the wrong studio for this. Of course they would make those changes.
