I know at one point Justin says it is for the police, but when the psychos kill Justin one of them carries the camera over to film Justin being killed and then just leaves the camera, why would they film and then leave the camera?

Then the other two find the camera and continue filming, the girl watches the tape and then starts filming again, WTF?

And why oh why do they keep the camera on and recording while pointing it at the ground while walking? Why not just turn on the camera when you have something to record?

That's the issue tough to get around with found footage films.

Thinking the same thing, the only motive would be that you don't know WHEN the next surprise is coming and so you keep it rolling. You might just catch one of their faces before your own face gets peeled off its skull.

All I know is that I could really use a camera battery with this amount of filming hours. mine is good for five hours tops.
