Character Lennart

Anyone else think this guy is great in this series? In the mites of the overall story of this series Lennart delivers a bunch of laugh out load scenes. :)

I think he's both funny and a litle sad. :) :(
I wonder if he'll be in the show more though.

Yes..!! he is a great actor and great character too...!!
In general the swedish are very good actors more real than the american actors.

The duet Lennard and his insufferable hubot wife are very very funny and a bit scary.

I think he was brilliant as are all the cast especially the androids as it would be very easy for poor acting to show. I just can't get the Hubot maid's "Lennart...Lennart..." nagging out of my head. Like "Bueller...Bueller..."!

reply

Absolutely! Lennart was my favourite character from the very start!! He's hilarious, brilliant and his smile is infectious! =)

The transition of the Lennart character from lonely widower, further saddened by the loss of his companion hubot, to break dancing comedy robot grandpa was little short of insulting. In fact the scant, cliched and demeaning depiction of the elderly in this series is imo its greatest flaw.

For a show with a notional theme of dealing with what it means to be human the treatment of the elderly as comedy relief did the writers no credit at all.

The elderly are just people, the same as all of us. There is nothing magical or different or noble about them, they've just been here a bit longer than younger people. Spend some time with older people, get to know them, and you'll see. It is infuriating when younger folks treat old people as if they were all a bit gaga and senile and fragile and just part of a gray mass called "the elderly" that has to be separated and considered needing special treatment.
