How much different is this from Almost Human(2013)?

www.imdb.com/title/tt2654580/
Heared its just an americanized version of Äkta människor, how true is this?

reply

Nope. Almost Human has little to nothing in common with Real Humans. Sadly.

When the show was announced I thought it would be something like big budget Äkta människor tv series. Alas, I was wrong.

Having watched all 4 Almost Human episodes available atm, I'd say Almost Human is your average villain of the week cop buddies tv series with occasional funny moments in somewhat futuristic setting that has neither any solid main story arc nor depth to offer viewers.

Ok, thank you! Will keep Almost Human as timefodder for now.

i wish they would release akta manniskor on a region 1 dvd. i want to throw my money at them!

reply

Yeah same here daffy72.

reply

Seriously... why can't they just do like everyone else does with shows in English and dub them?

reply

Because unlike things exported from the USA and international productions from the UK, the production value can be increased by a remake. Also the european pacing often can be improved or... well... let's call it "streamlined".

Same here! I was super excited when AH was announced but it turns out to just be a style over substance futuristic cop show (I've only watched two episodes).

Fox bought the rights to Real Humans last year, then made Almost Human. They are the reason you wont see it being remade by anybody else.

reply

Kudos ,a UK based production company, bought the rights to Real Humans

Real Humans is perfect as it is. Why remake it ?
I have the privilege of being able to watch it in Swedish with subtitles and I love it.

Why do English speaking countries have to bastardize every good shows? Are the viewers there too lazy to read subtitles?

reply

Hear hear !

They can remake it all they like, won't change how great AM is. If th remake is good than it will enhance AM. If it sucks then AM will be even better, a great show to fall back on.

You're welcome.

We can't even get viewers to accept hard-of-hearing subtitles. you'd be surprised how many times I've pulled my hair out because NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS post questions, make theories, etc. of misheard dialogue when simple subtitles would solve the problem. I actually consider myself lucky to have been raised with a hearing-impaired parent. Subtitles/captions were mandatory for enjoying movies and TV, and as such I've become very easily attuned to fully enjoying a show while reading subtitles.

Sadly, Americans seem to mostly be incapable of this. UK viewers seem to be much better at it, but they still like to remake things (but they do a better job than Americans, at least)

Yeah I know this comment is over a year old but give me a break with this stuff. You act like other countries don't remake UK/US TV shows in their language.

A remake doesn't bastardize anything either. If anything it gets this original version out to a wider audience such as myself who didn't even know it existed until now. Sorry for not being on top of every good show that every country puts out. Who knows, if it garners more and more interest maybe they decide to continue it in some way.

reply

Wrong show. You're thinking of Humans (2015).
