It was overturned because the only reason the court ruled in his favor originally is that it was in Minnesota and he was a Minnesota celebrity. The judge despicable forced the jury to come to a verdict (split) in his favor.

Jesse Ventura sued Chris Kyle when Chris Kyle was alive. Jesse claimed that (this is really general and more exact speech will be more accurate):
*Chris lied when talking about Jesse (most notably in Chris' book)
*Chris knew that they were lies
*Chris' lies hurt Jesse's reputation/etc
*Chris made money off the lies
The jury agreed and so they decided that Chris damaged Jesse and therefore Chris has to give him money to make up for it.
However, at some point between the beginning of the lawsuit and the jury coming to a conclusion, Chris died. Which means that the money is now coming from Chris' estate.
Suing the widow was a pretty low thing to do.

Chris was full of himself his ego was off the charts and I am glad Jesse stood up to him.

Ummm Jesse didn’t sue Chris’s widow because of any “lies”, also that would be unconstitutional. He sued Chris’s widow because Chris had the balls to put Jesse in his place by decking the son of a bitch.

Ventura is an attention whore. He was probably libeled in Kyle's book, but but I have zero sympathy for anyone like him who promotes wacky conspiracy theories for money.
