References to other Famous Directors

When I notice obvious references to iconic films or directors, i figure there are prob many more that i didn't notice. Did anyone grok all those Terence Malick references?:
the drum soundtrack (The Master)
the wheat like fields (Heaven's Gate)
biaggio in camouflage (Thin Red Line)

Terence Malick had a part in the making of The Master? Also: The Master wasn't out yet when they were filming this movie in 2012.

I seemed to notice the hammer in the air scene as a nod to the monkey in 2001 too? Anybody else thought of that?
