Comedy ? Many 'laugh out loud' moments ?

Maybe raised a couple of smiles here and there but I really don't see how this is being billed as comedy.

reply

Nick Offerman, Biaggio and the cops were pretty damn hilarious at times, Biaggio especially. But yeah it's more like a Comedy Drama.

reply

What was that funny about the weird kid?

reply

You did not laugh at all, for instance, when he was latched onto a tree in his camo outfit pretending to be invisible? Or at many of the lines by nick Offerman? Some peoples' sense of humor, man...

reply

You didn't laugh at all during the scene with Biaggio in the interrogation room?

---

That would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus two plus one plus one.

reply

I found this a drama/comedy it was so funny

reply

It's not comedy and it's not really drama either.

It's a poor attempt at making a funny and thought-provoking film which failed.

You should watch the movie with a an adult and let them explain it for you.

Oh totally agree.....I completely related to this movie, but I'm not sure many adults would.

reply

Well, I am an adult (almost 50 years old) and I watched this last night. I enjoyed it tremendously, although I will admit, most of my laugh out loud moments were Frank's lines.

That being said, I think there were many amusing lines throughout. And, while I am a LONG way away from being 15 or 16, I still remember it well. And I know exactly how Joe felt when he thought Kelly was coming to him and she went to Patrick instead (although I am a female, I did have a girlfriend who every guy I had a crush on liked).

Anyway, enjoyable movie!

reply

It's what I'd classify as an awkward film.

But Seriously Your Opinion Is Wrong

reply

The funny moment for me was when Joe said to Biaggio "I want to be alone" and Biaggo walk through the door with a huge hole in the wall. It was such a serious scene LOL

reply

Does anyone have a sense of humor? I laughed more in the first 20 minutes of this movie than I did in most big Hollywood comedies.

reply

I got a lot of good laughs out of this, especially the beginning but the best was the climax. My girlfriend was in tears.

Totally agree. This movie may not strictly be a comedy, but it's definitely funnier than most actual comedies. It's a comedy drama - and, in my opinion, those are the best kinds of comedies. Actual comedies try so hard.

When you grow up, your heart dies.

reply

I agree.

The actors just delivered their lines flawlessly. The part that made most of the lines so funny was that they were supposed to be serious.

"Im afraid to tell him to leave, I dont know what he's capable of" as he's wildly swinging a machete around like a lunatic.

"I decided to use the Denzel Washington format. A Black name follow by a state"

"Perhaps we should dissolution him. A bear who doesn't believe in anything will be easier to bring down"

The interrogation room when Biaggio was staring down the cop while he starts to freak out. The lady cops serious assessment of Biaggio "He as a contempt for the law I've never seen in a minor."

"There is shame in it, but please leave anyway."

reply

well because like what happened with me most of the humour and comedy elements worked with many people and throughout the whole movie or at least that's what i think

reply

I think I laughed twice. This movie failed on so many different levels, one of which was a comedy.

Okay, is there a way we can get rid of the wannabe movie critics who wanna try to fit their mini review in every discussion?

I do not have a sig

reply

I thought it was hilarious in parts but overall it's a drama. But the movie is full of comedians doing bits. (Offerman, Kumail, Middleditch, Mullally, Rajskub, Hannibal Buress)

reply

"But the movie is full of comedians doing bits. "

...and this is exactly the reason why IMO the humor just didn't work in this movie. In the beginning it had this comical vibe (weird characters that are almost caricatures, forced-funny dialogue) but got more serious in the scenes where the script needed it to be. In between you have these "funny bits" but to me it was just not very well-balanced.

reply

I laughed out loud many times actually. The humor is dry and sneaks up on you. I mean come on? "I have no idea where he's getting chives"? That was funny.

To the people who didn't think this movie was funny: Please continue to watch Dumb and Dumber To and the Three Stooges movie.
