Agree with some things, but not all

I enjoyed watching this documentary and I completely understand how frustrating the criminal justice system can be, but I do not agree on the "poor me" tone going on in this documentary. The clients of these public defenders have been accused of a crime. Theey aren't victims. They aren't being accused because they are poor & black either. If they weren't out on the streets, they wouldn't be in that situation in the first place. Some are innocent, but some are guilty as ever, but got off on a technicality or, simply, the prosecution couldn't prove their case beyond a resonable doubt. Then, that congressman acted like the people they are defending are just poor, innocent people being picked on, simply because of their race. What about the white people accused of crimes? This is a typical liberal Netflix documentary, but I enjoyed it. I agree on a lot of what they said, but disagree that their clients aren't victims. Most of these people are guilty, but a few aren't. If the accused would stay out of the streets, not hang around trashy people and actually do something productive with their lives (and not get neck tattoos), then maybe they could get out of their miserable surroundings. We, as a society have thumbed our noses at hard work and instead play the victim role. Instead of working hard, staying in school and dedicating their lives to change, they are taught at a young age to blame others for their failures. It's all in what you make of your life. This documentary is promoting that same, typical thing: poor me, I am a victim, everyone is against me because I am poor, everyone is accusing me of wrongdoing because I am black. That's the absolute wrong thing to promote.

I meant to say that I don't agree on their clients being victims. Sorry for the typos in my previous post. I used my phone to type it and obviously didn't do a good job.
