These people are saints...

I've never understood the animus towards defence lawyers but particularly public defenders. An advesarial judicial system is so important to the maintenance of our liberty. Witnesses mess up, investigators mess up, DAs mess up, judges mess up. These people are one of the vital checks and balances that force those people to maintain a high and consistent standard. The fact they do it while travelling to work on the fumes in their gas tank is a disgrace.
