The ending

Either the version I watched was missing minutes at the end, or it ended HORRIBLY. What were the motives? Did they get the real bad guy? Why did the one kid run at the cop trying to stop him from shooting the guy? How was this pulled off if only by one person? Was another involved? And who? I really must have missed something or watched an incomplete version. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not bashing the movie, just the ending.

I watched only the final 15 minutes. More happened after the guy was shot.

==== Spoiler Alert ! ====

After the tragic night, they went back to school. The blond girl was in wheel chair. A blond boy with a skate board accidentally bumped into the wheel chair, his skate board dropped. He talked to her about his brother, the screen showed the blond girl and other students tortured and laughed at a kid. After the talk, the blond boy picked up his skate board and left. The screen froze on the logo (evil face) under the skate board, it was the same logo (evil face) on the internet. It seemed the blond boy plotted the whole thing for revenge.

davidjp is being sincere. The scene he describes at the end is there. The only thing he doesnt mention is that the blond kid in the final scene (the one who is revealed as the bad guy) is in the film before. At the beginning, when all the kids are arriving at school and the 3 girls are chatting toether, he crashes through them on his skateboard and then steals one of their diaries. It's clear he doesn't like them, or they him. Then he is seen again in the middle of the movie, at his computer. But its never mentioned that he is the brother of the other guy - not till the end.

In fact it was a weird set of scenes at the end:
There's the scene where the policeman is shooting the guy and Marty runs to stop him.
Then after that there is a scene where Marty and his girlfriend are sitting on the beach looking at the pic that was taken of the 7 of them all enjoying themslves at the party.
Then as they walk away, the camera pans up to the sky and there's a long song is played.(This looks very much like the end, so maybe this is where people stop watching?)
Then there's a caption saying 'three months later' and we see the scene that davidjp described.

The ending seemed rushed
The concept if the film was ok but the reveal at the end was lacking
