I've read several reviews, and I still don't quite understand exactly what the criticism is. I've seen low scores, but none of the critics say exactly why. So what was so bad about this film? What exactly was wrong with it?

shareI watched it today and it was beyond awful. I'm a huge fan of the Fred Zinnemman 1948 film starring Montgomery Clift. This one adds another strand to the plot - that of a young Russian soldiers experience.
Aside from the moving ending towards the end of the film it was a failure in every other respect.
