Totally Passed Me By

I didn't even know this existed until I ordered the John Buntin non-fiction book on the mid-century history of Los Angeles upon which the show is based.

So, I haven't read the book yet, nor have I seen the show, but I don't know what TNT was thinking. Noir is a very specific niche genre and does not appeal much to modern viewers. Plus, it must have been fairly expensive to produce. It probably needed a network that was going to commit to at least 2 seasons of 10 episodes each...or at least 6 episodes each, like a lot of programming in the UK. The audience got one 6 episode season. I don't even know if I would have liked the show, but it's got a solid 7 rating here on IMDb, so it seems like it got short shrift.
