I'm a bit surprised to see people on this board so disappointed with this show.
I personally think it's some of the most clever surrealist comedy I've seen on TV in a while and it has quickly become one of my favorite shows on the air. I'll take this over Portlandia any day of the week.
And yes, I am a fan of the podcast as well.
I'm surprised as well on the poor reception here and I agree 100% about Portlandia. I watched all of the first season of Portlandia on Netflix and while some of the skits are okay, I found most of the episodes draggy and just overall kinda flat. I just didn't really find much of it funny.
Maybe others on the board didn't give this show a fair shake? Or they are too accustomed to the podcast version? I don't know. The people I've described it to have thought it sounded hilarious (which it is), take for instance just the entire concept of the season finale. I would say it's an original idea, but it's a little similar to Space Ghost: Coast to Coast.
I can't wait until the second season gets greenlit. Hopefully it will be longer though...
Portlandia sucks but it is still twice as good as this garbage.
